British music is celebrated the world over. From the ‘British Invasion’ in the swinging 60s, punk of the 70s, and the Cool Britannia of the 90s, the richness and diversity of British popular inspires fans worldwide. Rock legends such as The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones, The Sex Pistols, and Oasis all originated here, and on this tour you can see where they amongst others began their careers, performed and recorded their music, and understand the social, economic and political factors which influenced their sound.

 

2019 – 6 night tours departing every Sunday from London for FIT and Groups

2. Tuesday x 2 nights 4* Hard Days Night Hotel, Liverpool

3. Thursday x 2 nights 4* Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel, Manchester

 

Great music hotels:

• The new Hard Rock Hotel*, London – *Opening in spring 2019 currently the Cumberland Hotel. Former residence of Jim Hendrix and future Hard Rock Hotel

• Hard Days Night Hotel, Liverpool – a unique Beatle’s themed hotel, next door to the famous Cavern Club

• Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel, Manchester – a former concert hall and famous for Bob Dylan’s ‘Judas’ concert and legendry Sex Pistols performances

Day 1

London – Welcome and the Troubadour
Arrival in London and check into your hotel.
Optional visit to the Troubadour, an original coffee club, bar and restaurant which opened in 1954. The venue helped launch the career of Bob Dylan and was once headlined by Sammy Davis Jr. Food is available in the evenings (booking in advance is highly recommended.)

Day 2

London – Hendrix, Handel and the Classic Rock Tour
Morning – Handel & Hendrix in London – Separated by a wall and 200 years are the homes of two musicians who chose London and changed Music.

Make your own way to Mayfair, for an independent visit to this piece of history. See the house Handel called home for 36 years from 1723, see his Music Room, Composition Room, bedroom and dressing room. Come forward some 240 years, and separated by a wall is the flat of Jimi Hendrix. His bedroom has been carefully restored using the many photo shoots that took place in 1969, alongside the memories of Kathy Etchingham. Hendrix created the colourful room to be his escape from the world and considered it the first home of his own.

There are a team of knowledgeable guides throughout both houses, who will be pleased to share their stories with you. Linger as long as you like in the houses.

Free time for lunch.

Afternoon Tour – Classic Rock Legends and Beatles Sites, This tour covers sites and locations relevant to the history of so many 60s, 70s and 80s artists such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Bob Marley. See Abbey Road studios, walk on the pedestrian crossing and see Apple Records former HQ.

This evening, dinner (two course gold menu) is included at the Hard Rock Cafe, London – Eric Clapton’s favourite restaurant, enjoy one of their mouth-watering dishes whilst sitting amongst the memorabilia of legends, including Eric Clapton’s guitar which was originally used to reserve his table here.

Day 3

Liverpool – The British Music Experience and the Jacaranda
Morning, travel by train with first class tickets from London Euston Station to the magnificent city of Liverpool. Light refreshments and drinks will be served to your seat during the journey.

Afternoon, visit the British Music Experience. With over 600 artefacts on display dating back to 1945, this wonderful music exhibition is sure to answer all of your questions about the British music scene.

Optional evening at ‘the Jacaranda’ an iconic music pub where the Beatles were frequent visitors before they hit the big time and where Lennon once painted a mural for the ladies washrooms

Day 4

Liverpool – The Beatles Story and The Magical Mystery Tour
Morning, The Beatles Story – see the world’s largest collection of Beatles memorabilia. This celebrated exhibition retells the story of how The Beatles shot to fame. Tour the museum at your own pace with a ‘Living History’ audio guide.

There will be free time for lunch.

Afternoon, The Magical Mystery Tour – journey into the swinging sixties with a ticket to ride ! Whilst listening to The Beatles back catalogue, you will visit their childhood homes along with sites associated with some of their biggest hits such as Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields.

Optional dinner at Blake’s Restaurant, a Beatles themed restaurant located at the Hard Days Night Hotel.
Evening visit to the famous Cavern Club, a live music venue made famous by The Beatles, which continues to thrive today.

Day 5

Liverpool – The Casbah and Manchester
Morning, The Casbah Coffee Club – a special visit to this original untouched basement venue where the Beatles first performed and launched their career over 40 years ago. After the visit your driver will transfer you to Manchester.

Lunchtime arrival in Manchester – Free time to explore this famous city, with its Town Hall, old libraries, iconic warehouses, pubs, shopping and two world famous soccer clubs.

Optional evening at Night and Day Cafe Bar – located in the trendy Northern Quarter. Arctic Monkeys, MGMT and Mumford and Sons have all played here.

Day 6

Manchester Music Story Tour
Manchester Music Story Tour – A 3 hour tour discovering how Manchester‘s unique sound shaped the world’s music scene in the 70s, 80s and 90s. You will see former locations, homes and hear stories from: The Hollies, Herman’s Hermits, The Smith’s, Oasis, Morrissey, Joy Division, New Order, the Bee Gees, Simply Red, 10CC, Thin Lizzy, Stone Roses, James, The Fall and Factory Records plus the world famous former Hacienda night club.

Manchester’s Hard Rock Cafe – Take lunch or dinner and dine amongst rock regalia including David Bowie’s set list from the Glass Spider tour and Liam Gallagher’s guitar.

Optional evening at ‘Band on the Wall’ music venue, so named because bands used to play on a stage halfway up the wall to make room in the pub.
