Welcome to Bristol - A city of beauty, history and creativity

If ever there was a city with a story to tell, it’s Bristol. Situated in the foothills of the magnificent Cotswolds in South West England, Bristol has cultivated its own unmistakable identity over the centuries. Shaped by the River Avon, the city of Bristol has a rich maritime history and today is a thriving, culturally progressive city reflective on its role in history and transformed into a hotbed of creativity and innovation. Bristol has so much to do and see and we know how difficult it can be picking exactly what you'd like to do while you are here. So we've pulled together lots of ideas and inspiration for things to do in Bristol to help you decide and plan your perfect itinerary.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge

One of Bristol’s most recognisable structures, Clifton Suspension Bridge is truly a feat of engineering and has come to symbolise a city of original thinkers and independent spirit. The bridge is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year. A one-way system is currently in operation for pedestrians.

Brunel's SS Great Britain

Launched in Bristol in 1843, this was the world’s first ocean-going, propeller-driven, iron ship. The historic vessel is now conserved with the hull protected by a ‘glass sea’. Visitors can experience what life was like for the ship’s Victorian passengers and crew.

Bristol Street Art

This is a "must-do" cultural experience when visiting Bristol, the Bristol street art tour can be done by downloading the app or by guide and both provide an incredible insight into the life and work of Banksy, and reveals the stories behind the paintings and the culture that makes Bristol the street art and graffiti capital of the UK.
